The LG G6 is unveiled in photo: say goodbye to the modular design

The LG G6 is revealed shyly with its first picture. The smartphone should replace the modular side by something more classic.

The first official photo of the LG G6 was published on the media The Verge. The next flagship of the brand is revealed only half since the picture shows only the upper part of the device front. We can not say much about it without seeing the rest of the screen.

The end of modular smartphone

LG is in an uncomfortable situation in the smartphone market. After several failures including the G5 and its modular experience last year, the G6 will have to quickly prove itself. From what we know for now, the G6 will replace the modular side of its predecessor by a more standard classic design.

We observe the large display 5.7 inch QHD+ which should occupy the major part of the front face, leaving only a small space at the top of the device to accommodate the front photo sensor and thin borders on the sides.

This should bring it a ratio of more than 90%, similar to what the Xiaomi Mi MIX smartphone unveiled at the end of 2016. The Verge says the LG G6 shell will be made of glass and metal, and the smartphone will have a 3.5mm headphone jack, while the battery will not be removable.

The LG G6 should keep on the back the dual photo sensor already present on the LG G5, as well as a fingerprint reader. It should not propose the new SnapDragon 835 but rather a SnapDragon 821 processor.

Remember that the LG G6 will finally be officially presented at the Mobile World Congress on February 26 at 12:00.
