Impressive: the Tesla Model S P100D GT speed up from 0 to 60 mph in 2.1 seconds

The Tesla Model S is one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world. And as Elon Musk likes to remind, they do not cost hundreds of thousands of dollars as their competing relatives.

But we are talking about mainstream cars, which you can buy if you have the means. Imagine taking a Tesla Model S and making it into a racing car. This is exactly what the organizers of the Electric GT Championship did, which is to say quickly, a new car championship that aligns Tesla Model S on the starting grid.
The organizers modified Tesla Model S P100D which can only go at 155 mph (249 km / h) but accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96.5 km / h) in 2.1 seconds. The latest official update of the P100D allows the classic car to accelerate in 2.34 seconds. These few tenths of a second have no meaning for individuals, but on a race, they can make a difference. To achieve this, the organizers have removed most of the interior elements to lose weight to the car and adjusted the suspensions, steering wheel and the rear spoiler.

The Tesla Model S will run on the circuits of Nürburgring, Catalunya, Zandvoort, Paul Ricard or Estoril and Mugello. The championship will start later this year and can be followed, for example, on YouTube. All cars will be the same: only the driver talent nominate the winner.
