CES 2017: Pimax unveils a VR headset with 4K definition for each eye!
The virtual reality is present at CES 2017 and Pimax surprised everyone by launching a 4K VR helmet.
Last year, Pimax was the first company to introduce a 4K virtual reality helmet, at the CES 2016. This year, the company unveils a helmet with a 4K definition by eye. When HTC Vive and Oculus Rift offer a 1200x1080 pixels per eye, the new helmet offers 3840 x2160 pixels per eye.
To better understanding the difference, we can say that, on the Vive, each eye has 1.3 million pixels. The Pimax headset has 8.3 million pixels for each eye. The Pimax headset is therefore more than 6 times better visually.
Pimax has even talked about "VR 8K", another field which the Pimax 8K "beats" its competitors: the field of view. Humans have a field of view that can vary between 188 and 220 degrees according to Wikipedia. The Pimax offers a field of view of 200 degrees. To give an idea, the HTC Vive offers only 110 degrees.
