CES 2017: ODG AR Glasses class and discrete
Osterhout Design Group (ODG) has announced two augmented reality glasses the R-8 and R-9 at the CES 2017. The company focused on the design which makes this glasses look very class, they don't even look like an AR glasses.
These two AR Glasses are powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and run on Android Nougat 7,0. The device recognizes 6 degrees of freedom and the R-9 model displays a field of view of 50 degrees, which is great for an AR system (40° for the R-8). Each AR screen of the R-9 is Full HD and the front camera records videos up to 4K. The R-9 suitable for low light conditions, and has ports for external modules (night vision, LeapMotion).
As for the R-8 model, slightly less efficient, it displays the AR elements in HD (720p) definition and it's lighter than the R-9 and cheaper as well. The R-8 and the R-9 will be available for sale in the second half of 2017, at $1000 and $1800.
