CES 2017: the JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker becomes (also) waterproof

For its latest generation of Flip Series Bluetooth speakers, JBL announces that it has improved the audio quality of the device, but the main innovation remains the arrival of the IPX7 certification.

JBL has obviously wagered on the waterproof for its latest vintage Bluetooth speakers. In addition to the Pulse 3, the American brand has decided to make another wireless speaker resistant to water.

At the CES, JBL unveiled the Flip 4, successor to the popular Flip 3, which is now certified IP X7. This means that it can be immersed up to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes. Apart from that, JBL says to have reworked the sound of the device, so it would be "20% better" depending on the brand.

Visually, the loudspeaker has hardly changed. However, it has a new fabric cover and a more robust rubber housing. For the rest, there is a 3000 mAh battery that promises 12 hours of battery life, the integration of Siri and Google Now PDAs (Personnal digital Assistant), and the ability to connect up to 100 speakers to the same source.

Available in various colors (black, white, red, blue ...), the Flip 4 will be released next spring in the United States, priced at $ 100. The brand has not yet given a date for Europe.
