Android 7.1.1 will be the Last Update for Nexus 6 and Nexus 9
Today Google announced the beta of the Android 7.1.2. And shares the list of the devices that can take advantage of this update. unfortunately, the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 are not included in this list.
Indeed, these two flagships were released two years ago (November 2014), and if we follow the logic of Google in terms of updates, the two years of software update are respected. Therefore, Android 7.1.1 version will be the last update for these devices. However, security updates will last until approximately October 2017.
We're expecting to launch the final release of the Android 7.1.2 in just a couple of months, Like the beta, it will be available for for Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices.
The Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 had unfortunately not been great commercial success for Google, which also leads to the loss of motivation to develop more and more updates for these smartphones.
