Intel Core i5 will be the minimal requirements for the VR headsets in Windows 10 VR

2017 will be the year of Virtual Reality. In fact, Microsoft announced the minimal requirement for the Windows 10 VR. Microsoft initiative could give a serious advantage to the operating system.

The release of the next big update of Windows 10 will be accompanied by the marketing of inexpensive headsets starting at 299 USD. they will work with a dedicated virtual environment, Windows VR. According to the minimal specs required revealed by Microsoft at the WinHEC 2016 conference, Windows VR will not require a powerful machine

-A headset for every PC?

Microsoft wants to democratize virtual reality. Therefore the publisher had to propose a solution turning on the most system possible. And even thought the minimum requirements are slightly different from those anticipated by last month's leak, many recent configuration should easily run the virtual environment of the operating system. Actually, the applications running in windows VR may require more resources.

-Minimal specs required for Windows VR: 
  • CPU: Intel Mobile Core i5 Dual-Core with Hyperthreading equivalent
  • GPU: Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 620 (GT2) equivalent or greater DX12
  • RAM: 8GB+ Dual Channel required for integrated Graphics
  • HDMI: HDMI 1.4 with 2880×1440 @ 60 Hz or HDMI 2.0 or DP 1.3+ with 2880×1440 @ 90 Hz
  • HDD:100GB+ SSD (Preferred) / HDD
  • USB: USB 3.0 Type-A or USB 3.1 Type-C Port
  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 for accessories
