Google: Two Connected Watches In Android Wear 2.0 But Not Pixel
Google will be the first group to offer connected watches in Android Wear 2.0 but they will not be launched under the Pixel brand.
Google confirmed by Jeff Chang, responsible Android Wear, the upcoming launch of two connected watches on the occasion of the formalization of the platform Android Wear 2.0 early 2017. They are presented as reference models ("flagship") and will be the first to board the evolution of the system for connected watches of the Mountain View group.
However, they will not belong to the Pixel series, like the two smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL launched in October. They will not carry the brand of Google but that of the partner with which Google has partnered to produce them and who is not yet named, but who has already produced Android Wear watches.
With the launch of the two connected watches, Google will also upgrade to Android Wear 2.0 many of the Android Wear smartwatches from the market. Among the new features, the platform will support native applications, android Pays mobile payment and support for Google Wizard.
Note that Android Wear 2.0 will also be adapted to work with Apple iOS. After the launch of two connected watches from Google (Angelfish and Swordfish?), other manufacturers will follow throughout the year 2017, with the first announcements likely at the CES 2017 in January.
