Blackberry Opens An Autonomous Driving Research Center!
Blackberry will open an autonomous driving research center, to be part of the coming smart car revolution.
Blackberry now is betting its future on the most profitable business of making software and mobile device. The company is expanding subsidiary QNX’s Ottawa facility to focus on developing advanced driver assistance and autonomous vehicle technology by focusing on how its embedded software interacts with sensors, cameras and other components required for self-driving vehicles.
BlackBerry is one of the initial organizations to get clearance from the government to test their self-driving cars on public roads. For its tests, will be using Ford and Lincoln vehicles retrofitted with autonomous vehicle hardware and software.
The company has also inked a deal to work directly with Ford, but they’re still quiet about their specific work.
