Apple Watch sales plunge but Tim Cook promises records at year-end

According to research firm IDC, sales of Apple Watch decreased by 70% year-over-year, triggering a comment from Tim Cook who says for his part that sales will reach a record year-end.

Reporting on the sales of wearables (bracelets and watches connected) in the third quarter of 2016, the IDC research firm recalls the sharp drop in sales of the Apple Watch, despite the arrival in the spring of a new version with l 'Apple Watch Series 2.
With 1.1 million units, sales fell by more than 70% compared to last year, partly due to supply difficulties.

Apple's boss Tim Cook replied by affirming to Reuters that the Apple Watch had very strong sales in the first weeks of the holiday season, making it perhaps the most big quarter never realized by his gadget.

The segment nevertheless made little progress in the third quarter, with a growth of 3.1% compared to last year, and a growth mainly supported by the connected bracelets, not the smartwatches which on the contrary experienced a severe reflux.

In this context, the specialist of the connected Fitbit bracelets retains the world first place with a solid growth of 11% of its sales, while Xiaomi remains in second place (+ 4% growth).

Also note the presence of Garmin in the Top 3 worldwide with a strong growth of 12% and 1.3 million connected objects sold, while Samsung took advantage of his presence on connected watches and bracelets and recent launches for Selling 1 million gadgets.
