SpaceX: the cause of the explosion is found, the missions will resume in December

SpaceX finally found the cause of the explosion of its Falcon 9 rocket on its launch pad in September. Elon Musk announced that the flights will be resumed from December.

The SpaceX Company finally found the cause of the explosion of the Falcon 9 rocket during an ignition test of the reactors on its launch pad, which was destroyed at the same time its payload, the satellite communication AMOS- 6.

After weeks of uncertainty, the reason for the incident was isolated and even if he is not an alien cause or sabotage, Elon Musk, SpaceX CEO, recalls a very surprising problem never met in the history of rockets, in an interview with CNBC.

Without giving many details, it seems that the liquid oxygen had frozen during the filling phase of the second stage of the rocket, which, combined with carbon composite material tanks, had consequences on the helium tanks, to the point to explode.

Anyway, the SpaceX team managed to replicate the causal chain of the explosion and are able to revise the fuel loading protocols of the rocket, while a design flaw appears to be discarded and will allow resume flights without having to change the structure of rockets.

Indeed, Elon Musk has confirmed that his plans to resume space missions since mid-December 2016, two months after the September incident. The CEO of SpaceX however does not specify where the next flights will take off, another launch pad of the Kennedy Space Center or Vandenberg Air Force Base, the official launch pad has been damaged.
